Medication Drop Box Locations

The Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Ontario County promotes the safe disposal of medication in one of the drop box locations within Ontario County.

Any unwanted, unused or expired medication can be dropped off at the following locations:



Clifton Springs

East Bloomfield:

Hopewell County Complex
  • Shortsville Fire Department at 5 Sheldon St, Shortsville.  Open during normal business hours.





What can you drop off at the medication drop boxes in Ontario County?

  • Any unwanted, unused and expired over-the counter, pet or prescription medication.

  • Medications can be in their original containers with your name blackened out for confidentiality.

  • All medications are collected on a regular basis by the Ontario County Sheriff's Office and incinerated. 

What can you not drop off at the medication drop boxes in Ontario County?

  • We can not collect any liquid medication in the drop boxes or hazardous materials such as needles. 

  • Liquid medications can be dropped off during our mobile take back events in April and September.

  • Needles can be disposed of at designated locations, please ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
